>> Mentoring

Along with Home Groups, another way in which Alpine helps people pursue intentional relationships is through facilitating mentoring relationships. Mentoring is simply a relational process whereby one person empowers, supports and encourages another person by sharing their God-given experiences, wisdom and resources. The idea of mentoring is as old as the Bible itself. All throughout Scripture we examples of people involved, formally or informally in mentoring types of relationships. From Eli and Samuel, to Elijah and Elisha, to Moses and Joshua, to Barnabas and Paul, to Paul and Timothy, God’s Word is filled with examples of more experienced and mature believers pouring into the lives of other believers.

Alpine’s system of mentoring seeks to connect mentors with mentorees and help provide some structure and direction to these relationships. While some of these relationships may develop into long-term mentoring, many are more short-term in nature, focusing on a specific need of situation. These relationships can range in commitment and intensity from getting together monthly for dinner to weekly conversations.

While each mentoring relationship is unique, some of the main ways in which mentoring can helpful are:

  • Providing discipleship for new believers
  • Helping establish healthy spiritual habits
  • Helping break unhealthy habits
  • Offering insight and discernment with decision-making
  • Helping to identify and assess areas of needed spiritual growth
  • Supplying accountability and encouragement
  • Giving practical advice and strategies for spiritual development

No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, anyone can benefit from a mentoring relationship, as either a mentor or mentoree.  If you are interested in being mentored by someone, or mentoring someone, just contact Pastor Steve Bennetsen and he will help in the connection process.
